For some clinics, a Brazilian Butt Lift can mean implants or injections, while for others it is more of a natural approach with a Natural Brazilian Butt Lift through a natural fat transfer.

Who’s to say which method might be the best?

Luckily, we have have answers for you in one single place! Are you ready to learn about the differences, pros, and cons between implants, injections, and fat transfer Brazilian Butt Lifts?

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift with Implants?

This form of Brazilian Butt Lifts is commonly referred to as simply “butt implants” – think Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian. You know what we’re talking about!

This is accomplished by placing foreign objects into the buttocks- implants. These implants can be made in different ways, with different solutions and materials.

Much like breast implants, butt implants are essentially the same product and material, but shaped and sized differently in order to accommodate a larger area.

Silicone implants are the most commonly used type of implant for a Brazilian Butt Lift, whereas breast implants have quite a few more options for the material inside the implant.

Silicone implants are used in this procedure rather than say, saline, because they are more stable and filled with a firmer silicone gel. Should it burst, the implant will still hold its shape.

I mean, you are sitting and putting your body’s entire weight on the implant, so it would have to be firm and strong right? Thus, saline implants cannot hold up to the job.

Brazilian Butt Lifts using implants are commonly used for a larger look. Typically implants are more for trying to reshape, lift, and enlarge the buttocks dramatically, and more than what can be done naturally.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift with Injections?

There are two types of injections to choose from should you choose this route for a Brazilian Butt Lift- Sculptra or Hydrogel/Silicone injections.

The FDA has not approved any type of injections for body contouring and augmentation purposes. These include hydrogel and silicone injections.

Both of these types of injections are done similarly. Think botox of the face or lips- a walk in- walk out procedure done in a doctor’s office in a short period of time.

To do a Brazilian Butt Lift the Sculptra way, a filler that is in fact called Sculptra, is injected into the soft tissue of the buttocks.

This injection type adds a small amount of volume at the time of injection, and over weeks to months, your body uses it to encourage more collagen production, which may further increase the volume in that area.

It requires a few sessions to see a significant difference as well as multiple vials of the Sculptra per session, and is quite pricey.

As for a Brazilian Butt Lift done with hydrogel or silicone injections, these methods are not quite as popular as other forms of BBL’s.

The hydrogel method provides you with temporary results and doesn’t require a traditional surgical procedure. It’s also known to be quite risky…

Like hydrogel injections, silicone injections don’t involve surgery and they also don’t directly change the shape of your buttocks.

You may have heard that silicone injections are being used in place of butt implants, but in fact, this method is not recommended by many health professionals, and is not approved by the FDA.

Hydrogel and silicone injections for the buttocks can be dangerous and are often injected illegally by unlicensed providers in non-medical locations.

Because of the dangers of having these type of Brazilian Butt Lifts done, the silicone material being used is not what would be used in a medical environment.

They are more often found to be sealants and other materials that would be used in sealing bathrooms or tile floors… woah right?

If that didn’t sound dangerous enough, think about this: The product isn’t sterile and both the product and nonsterile injection can cause life-threatening or fatal infections because they are not real, medical grade materials.

The materials are soft and don’t stay in a single location, leading nearly every time, to hard lumps called granulomas. In addition, should this product be injected into blood vessels accidentally, it can travel to the heart and lungs, causing death…

Is one “safer” than the other?

Yes. You might be thinking- why would someone want silicone or hydrogel injections then? Well, as we said, the FDA has not yet allowed these injections yet, so is chosen as a cheaper, under-the-table option for a Brazilian Butt Lift.

As for silicone implants- imagine a water balloon, filled to the breaking point- it is hard and fragile feeling right? You could compare this feeling to saline implants.

However, silicone implants are said to feel more “natural” and produces more visually noticeable, long lasting results than that of injections or Sculptra.

Silicone implants are filled with a soft gel, providing a similar softness and more “natural shape”, similar to the natural buttocks. This material is a bit firmer than what you could expect from a silicone breast implant.

Because it is firm silicone gel, these implants can appear unusual should the implants rotate in the buttocks.

Implants are great option if you are looking for a larger and more drastic change to your rear end. Just remember that with that larger change comes larger maintenance!

Just like breast implants, it is recommended that you have implants changed every 10 years. Sometimes sooner if there are complications, or sometimes later given that the material used is more durable than that of a breast implant.

There are pros and cons to everything right?

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift Using a Fat Transfer?

A Brazilian Butt Lift by Belle Medical Las Vegas, is also referred to as a fat transfer to the buttocks. This method does not use implants or injections of any kind!

Instead, fat is harvested from another part of your body via HD Body Sculpting– a natural, minimally invasive treatment- and transferred to the buttocks.

Subtly restoring volume and shape to the buttocks, in a very natural-looking way, while using your own body’s fat!

No need to worry about a natural feel, or shape. No more worrying about an implant rotating, infection from illegal injections, or the minimal results of Sculptra!

Not to mention the added benefit of saying goodbye to unwanted fat that has settled into another area of the body, and saying hello to it in an area you do want it in!

You can lose a few inches of fat from the abdomen, or thighs, and simply add it to the buttocks instead!! By doing this procedure you are really getting 2 procedures at once.

An HD body sculpting procedure and then a fat transfer. It will help maximize results of your fat transfer by also slimming other areas down as well.

Which Forms of The Brazilian Butt Lift is “Better”?

Now that we’ve discussed the different forms of Breast Augmentation, let’s now address a few of the most common questions.

Q: Which form is “healthier” for the body?

A: A Natural Brazilian Butt Lift using fat transfer is much healthier for the body.

What is more natural and healthy, than your own fat being put into your body? Placing foreign implants into the body increases the chance of your body rejecting the implant or injection.

Q: What is the difference in the surgical processes?

A: There is a vast difference in the surgical process of all of these forms of Brazilian Butt Lifts. However, both processes are same-day procedures.

Implants will require a surgical process, under a general anesthetic. This means the patient will not be awake during the process, so they can ensure their body is being treated respectfully.

The surgeon then creates a pocket large enough to place the butt implants. This means incisions that the patient will need to take care of post-op, resulting in a longer recovery time.

This incision may be where the cheek meets the back of the thigh or in the buttock crease- yes that means you will have to care for an incision in the butt crack… to put it lightly…

Natural Brazilian Butt Lifts with Belle Medical Las Vegas is performed under a localanesthetic, and is considered a procedure, rather than a surgery because of this.

The patient is awake, but numb during the fat transfer. The process begins by removing fat from one area of the body, filtering the fat, and placing the fat back into the buttocks through a small access point.

You can read more about the Belle Medical Las Vegas fat transfer process HERE.

Q: What is the difference in recovery time and post-op care?

A: The recovery time and post-op care for a Brazilian Butt Lift with implants is more extensive.

Getting implants, you can expect a longer recovery time. Depending on the incision received as well, you may see a more extensive post-op care process. There may be a specific process in cleaning the wound, and keeping it gauzed or wrapped for a certain period of time.

Typically, there will be considerable amount of pain, swelling, bruising, tightness, and even bleeding during butt implant recovery.

For a butt implant surgery, you can expect to take at least a week minimum off work. Getting back to regular activities and most, but not all, normal movements is typically possible around two weeks.

Recovery time takes considerably less time for a fat transfer Brazilian Butt Lift by Belle Medical Las Vegas. Most patients are back to work within 24-48 hours following procedure, and back to most normal activities at about a week.

Both procedures will require wrap changes often in the post-op care process.

However, with both procedures, you are expected to rest for the following 24-48 hours after procedure. Both procedures will require a compression garment with post-op care.

For implants, you can expect to wear the compression for about six weeks. A fat transfer will typically require about 4 weeks of wearing the compression garment and caring for the recently grafted fat with careful sitting as to not agitate the fat in the area.

Q: What are the results like for each type of Brazilian Butt Lift?

A: The results of an implant and fat transfer do vary.

Of course, following a butt implant surgery, you can expect to feel like your buttocks are larger than you had chosen the implants to be. This is because of swelling.

But once the swelling goes down, you can expect your buttocks to remain the size you had chosen for the implants. There will be tightness of the skin, and in some cases, stretch marks and scarring.

Depending on the type of implant you chose, will depend on how your implants will look and feel once fully healed after six weeks.

For a Natural Brazilian Butt Lift, the size that you wish to achieve will be discussed between you and the provider. As well, the size can also be dependent on the amount of quality fat harvested from the other areas of the body.

You get a beautiful and natural enhancement while not getting that “fake” look many people fear. This adds a fuller look and confidence that our patients have grown to love.

Q: Will the results last if I choose to do a Fat transfer to the breasts?

A: Absolutely.

Your body has fat for many reasons. When you transfer that fat, your body is able to accept that and treat it the same as the existing fat there.

It is important to remember that there is about a 70% cell viability in a fat transfer which means you can expect to lose about 30% of the fat cells that are transferred. Your body will absorb the fat cells and process them through your lymphatic system… All done naturally.

Following your procedure, you can expect that your rear end will appear larger than you had intended- this is necessary.

Given that you will lose 30% of the fat, the size of the buttocks must have more fat in the beginning than desired, so that the body can go through its natural process and accept the new fat cells grafted in.

After healing, you will be left with your intended results as your body accepts the changes and the fat settles in.

As your weight fluctuates up and down so will the size of your buttocks as the fat inside will react the same way the existing fat there does- shrink when you lose weight, and swell with gained weight.

If you are looking for something a little larger or more of an dramatic look, traditional implants may be a better option for you.

Our patients find that they love their new look. They love having a naturally boosted butt size, while still being subtle. And have we mentioned how nice it is to not have something foreign inside of your body!?
