10 Tips To Stay Healthy During Quarantine
The most obvious way to stay healthy during quarantine is to keep up your exercise routine. Even if your gym hasn’t already closed down, it is best to stay away from the gym and do your workouts virtually from home. There are many workout apps and Youtube channels dedicated to At-Home workouts. If you don’t already have an exercise routine, this would be a really good time to start one and find out what kind of workouts you like.
Those that are having trouble staying motivated to do an at-home workout could create a schedule for yourself to workout twice a day. If you have friends and family members that are also stuck at home, plan a time with them that you both virtually workout at the same time! Get creative – it is important to stay active during this time.
Running is also a great form of exercise, and it is absolutely free. (Unless your state has mandated that you do not leave your house). There are also apps that can keep track of your runs, and track how far and how fast you are running. Running is a great way to get outdoors and get some fresh air, while still avoiding groups of people.
Exercise is especially important if you have recently had a HD Body Sculpting procedure – you do not want to lose your results.
Keep a Clean Home
The second of our 10 Tips To Stay Healthy During Quarantine is to keep a clean home. You are going to be spending a lot of time at home during a quarantine, that’s the point!
Keeping your home clean, organized, and sanitized is a great way to keep yourself healthy- and sane!
Start by sanitizing all surfaces, door handles, light switches, remotes, and knobs. Not only will you be protecting yourself from the virus, but cleaning will give you something to do during all of your time indoors. If you are like me, you will turn on some music and turn your cleaning session into a dance party!
Depending on how long you are stuck indoors, you could choose one area to focus on a day. We came up with a weekly cleaning schedule to follow pictured below. You can also make up your own, or find one on Pinterest!
Cooking Healthy Meals
If you have stocked up your kitchen in preparation of being quarantined, you or your family member may be finding it difficult to follow a meal plan and feel inclined to reach into the cabinets for extra snacks throughout the day. Meal preparation and designated meal times will help to:
- Regulate consumption and prevent overindulgence
- Ensure a well-balanced diet
- Avoid the temptation of ordering take-out foods that can be highly processed or packed with more saturated or trans fats
Quarantine could be a great time to try new recipes. Whether you have cook books that need dusting off, or you find a recipe on the internet, you now have the time to try a new recipe!
Go For A Walk
Unless your state has mandated that you do not leave your house, going for a walk is a great way to get out of the house without breaking quarantine. If you have a dog, even better! We can’t forget about a fur friends during this stressful time. I am sure they will love all the extra time that you are spending at home – and getting out of the house for a walk will be great for both of you.
Getting fresh air and getting away from the media will be great for your physical and mental health. If allowed, try to take a walk 2-3 times a day.
Allowing yourself to get fresh air – even if all you’re allowed to do is stay in your yard – will help you stay healthy during quarantine.
Keep Yourself Busy
To keep yourself from going stir-crazy while being stuck at home during quarantine, find something to do to keep yourself busy.
If you have a project that you have been meaning to get to for a while, now is the perfect time! Are you a puzzle person? A puzzle can be a great one person, or family activity that will take up some of your time in quarantine – and it will exercise your brain!
Whether you have a “Honey-Do” list, a home improvement project, or a craft that you have been wanting to do- now is the perfect time to finally get around to it! With non-essential businesses closed, you may have to get creative or order you supplies online.
Many of us do not have time to stay as organized as we would like. Whatever organization means to you, this is the perfect time to get there.
One good thing about this quarantine, is that life is slowing down enough that you may be able to finally get organized!
Maybe it is your garage that needs a little bit of TLC. This would be a good time to order some totes, and get your garage cleaned up!
Many people may take this time to get their finances in order. Sitting down and creating a budget and a financial plan is a great idea, and you will thank yourself later!
Does anybody else have clothes from 10 years ago still in their closet?? Or is it just me? Quarantine sounds like the perfect time to do a closet clean out. Go through your clothes, and if you haven’t work something in the last year. Toss it! When the quarantine is over, donate it to a shelter or goodwill.

Call a loved one
Now more than ever, our loved ones need to hear from us. It is important that we do not visit family during this time. It may be hard – but your grandparents will understand. They would love a phone call to let them know that we are okay, and we need to be rest assured that they are okay.
This would be a great time to call and check in with parents, grandparents, aunt & uncles, cousins, siblings, and family friends.
Try to have positive conversations that aren’t focused on the negative things that are going on. It is important not to dwell on what is going on, but to find the positive. If you can, find something to laugh about. Laughing is the best medicine!
With our busy day-to-day lives paused, quarantine is the perfect time to catch up with relatives and friends that we haven’t had time to call.
Maintain your mental health
Maintaining your mental health should be a main priority always, but especially during this time of quarantine. It is very important that you get enough sleep. The quality of your sleep directly affects your mental and physical health and the quality of your waking life, including your productivity, emotional balance, brain and heart health, immune system, creativity, vitality, and even your weight. Now more than ever, your immune system is so important!
Don’t spend too much time on social media or watching TV. The negative effects span beyond just wasted time. It also disrupts our real-life social interactions and literally alters our brain chemistry, contributing to symptoms like depression, insomnia, and anxiety. While this may seem like a good time to binge watch all of your favorite Netflix shows, it is a good idea to limit yourself to 2-3 episodes a day.
Meditate. Meditation is very important during this stressful time. According to Mindful.com, at home meditation is beneficial in lowering your stress levels. Excess stress causes lots of illnesses and can make other illnesses worse. There are several apps to help with at-home meditation. Here are a few of our favorite ones that are free.
We need to be our healthiest right now, and one way to do that is to stay hydrated.
It might be easy to binge drink your alcohol stash to break of the monotony of the quarantine. While one drink every now and then is okay, we should really think about switching our alcoholic, sugary, and caffeinated drinks for water.
Adequate water and fluid intake helps to keep your body strong and have the ability to fight off viruses and infection, but inevitable home distractions may get in the way of ensuring you’re drinking enough water. Follow hydration techniques such as:
- Tracking fluid intake through various apps that are available
- Drinking a glass of water before every meal
- Adding natural flavor to water through fruit infusion
- Utilizing a large reusable water bottle
- Replacing other drinks like soda or coffee with water or seltzer
Read a Book
The last tips of our 10 Tips To Stay Healthy During Quarantine is to read a book.
There isn’t much we can do during this time, other than commit to social distancing and keep ourselves free of germs. So sit back, try to relax and grab a book. Or if you don’t have a book, there are plenty of options to download e-books and even listen to audiobooks or podcasts- or read a blog.
Take this time to learn a new language, dive into a murder mystery, get caught up in the latest romance novel, read a self-help book, or whatever it is that you are interested.
Take advantage of your time indoors and off work. This isn’t an easy adjustment, but it is important to stay healthy – mentally, and physically during quarantine.
